Cécile Dury is a general nurse, holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Catholic University of Louvain in the French-speaking part of Belgium. She holds a Pedagogical Certificate for Higher Education. She has completed doctoral training at the European Academy of Nursing Science.

She has practiced professionally in intensive care units, medical and technical services and has accompanied clinical training students in the pneumology, orthopedics, emergency and intensive care units. She became a nurse teacher in 1997. She has held the positions of coordinator of the Intensive Care and Emergency Medical Aid specialization, educational coordinator for the nursing and midwifery sections and is currently Director of the health sector department at the University college of Namur-Liège-Luxembourg. Her competences focus on the development of training programs, the nurse teachers education, the analysis of professional practice and the support of teams in change.

She is a member of various boards of organizations related to health projects and involved in FINE Belgium and FINE Europe since 2005. During her mandate at FINE Europe, she worked on the modernisation of the EU/36/2005 Directive on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications. During the FINE working groups, she took part in informing members about the revision of the directive and worked on the mapping and revision of European nursing education programmes. At the national level, she was invite to participate in several debates on nursing reform in French-speaking Belgium and in working groups. She is active in some higher education expert committees. In November 2018, she became FINE Europe President and reelected in 2022.
