Dr Fintan Sheerin – PhD MA BSc PgDipEd RNID RGN RNT FEANS FNI MRSB is Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Trinity College Dublin, where he has taught for 17 years.

He is registered in both intellectual disability and general nursing, and his research has largely focused on engagement, mental health and well-being in older adults with intellectual disability, seeking to address the issues which impact both. He has explored intellectual disability across the areas of health, social care and rights and has worked with communities in various parts of the world.

He has published widely, spoken at many international conferences, has edited one book and contributed to several others. He is a Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science and of NANDA International.
