MARIA CASSAR<\/strong><\/p>\n VICE-PRESIDENT<\/strong><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/www.fine-europe.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/1280px-Flag_of_Malta.svg_.png” align=”center” _builder_version=”4.16″ width=”30%” height=”80px” border_radii=”on|1px|1px|1px|1px” border_width_all=”1px” border_color_all=”#000000″ global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n Prof. Maria Cassar graduated as a nurse at the University of Malta in 1993.\u00a0 She later completed\u00a0masters and doctoral studies in nurse education\u00a0at Kings College,\u00a0University of\u00a0London,\u00a0and the University of the Aberdeen, Scotland respectively and a masters qualification in online education\u00a0at University of Illinois, US.\u00a0<\/p>\n Along her 30-year professional career in nursing, she has practised as a clinician and nurse educator in\u00a0Europe, Asia, Africa and the US.<\/p>\n Her main\u00a0areas<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0professional\u00a0interest are curriculum development\/evaluation, the use of technology and simulation in teaching and\u00a0learning,\u00a0internationalization of higher education,\u00a0nurse regulation and mobility including undocumented (qualified) refugee nurses. Maria has\u00a0completed\u00a0training\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0IAIE<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Tuning Academy<\/a>, Spain in this regard.\u00a0<\/p>\n She has participated\u00a0in several transnational\u00a0projects nurse education including the\u00a0TUNING-MEDA<\/a>\u00a0project (nursing care),\u00a0CALOHEE<\/a>\u00a0project (nursing care),\u00a0ISPAD<\/a>,\u00a0DigiT<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0TOViD<\/a>, SG4NS<\/a>, EthCo<\/a> and\u00a0NNE<\/a>\u00a0projects. She is active in planetary health advocacy in health and social care contexts and has pioneered the Nurses Climate Champions<\/a> initiative in Europe and is currently committed to the Born Green- Delivering Toxic-free Healthcare project<\/a>. Both initiatives are led by the HCWH<\/a> with whom she has enabled strong avenues for collaboration.<\/p>\n In 2019 she was elected to the executive committee of\u00a0FINE<\/a>\u00a0and holds such role to-date. She was appointed on \u00a0Board of Directors of the Global Nursing Accreditation and Certification Council (GNACC)<\/a> in 2024<\/p>\n She\u00a0was the\u00a0Chairperson of the management board of the Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital and Policy Co-ordinator of the Ministry of Health in Malta\u00a0between\u00a02009-2013.
